NC STATE REP. CHARLES THOMAS (REPUBLICAN)
After reviewing the names of people wanting to be appointed to Asheville City Council we noticed Gordon Smith AKA Scrutiny Hooligans had applied.
In his application under "references", he has listed NC State Representative Charles Thomas a Republican and Michael Muller (past campaign consultant for (Rep) Dr. Carl Mumpower and (Rep) Nathan Ramsey) .
We tried to contact Representative Thomas and Mr. Muller for comment but have not received a response as of yet. We have also tried to reach Mr. Smith but have not received a reply.
GORDON SMITH
Gordon Smith is a liberal political activist within the local Democrat Party. He is a vocal critic of Dr. Carl Mumpower and past NC Congressman Charles Taylor (Rep).
An occupation of "Child and Family Therapist", Mr. Smith is a large supporter of the gay, lesbian, and transgender leftist agenda. He recently led a protest in which members of the occult (Coven Oldenwilde / Head Witch "Lady Passion") and Pagan community fought the removal of a magnolia tree and development in front of Asheville City Hall. Mr. Smith listed local businesses, non-profits, and government entities that supported their cause. Here is the video from the Mnt. Xpress -
The Carolina Stompers is hiring! We are looking for 2 individuals to report local news. You must be a people person with a sense of humor, able to use a video camera, and resourceful. You must report the truth, with no spin or slant. Hired reporters will also report on a conservative commentary TV show and will be asked questions of what he or she has reported. We will eventually be hiring a reporter for each school district in Buncombe County.
Our new studio is almost complete and soon we will be ready to show a different perspective of local news. The Carolina Stompers is widely known for our conservative commentary, opinion, and humor. We welcome any challengers to our conservative commentary of non biased news that we report.

Did you know that a lot of the bottled water we drink comes straight from a tap? Just like the water you drink from the City of Asheville? Look on the back of any food or drink packaging. Federal law requires the maker to list what it contains. Now look on a bottled water. There is no list of what it contains. After the water has been filtered, how do you know what you are really drinking?
As you know, if the government can tax it - consider it taxed. Remember the water meters on the wells? The government wants to tax you for the water that comes out of your own well?
"Drill baby drill" may mean more than drilling for gas. Take a look at the environmental impact of water resources in this video. And like a post in the Mountain Xpress said "Just look locally at the battle over water that has been going on in WNC over different water sources.

Two hundred Triangle drivers have been recruited to road-test a satellite-technology system that might be used to collect highway taxes on every mile we drive and maby replace the gas tax on every gallon we buy. Computers mounted in volunteers' cars will use global positioning system tracking to count the miles -- even across state lines.
The federal government and 15 states, including North Carolina, are paying for the study to find a reliable revenue source that can keep pace with growing transportation needs.
"The gas tax is not going to be a viable way of funding our highways in the future," Jon Kuhl, a University of Iowa professor who is directing the study, said in an interview. "The national Highway Trust Fund is already going broke, and the situation is going to get worse."
Gas tax collections are slowing as cars get more miles on each gallon, and as $4 pump prices force Americans to reduce their driving. A few years from now, many Americans might be driving plug-in electric and fuel-cell cars that don't use gas at all.
The tax rates are intended to generate about the same taxes on miles that the car pays in taxes on gallons of gas. The mileage tax would be higher for a heavy truck that burns a lot of gas, and lower for a fuel-thrifty hybrid.
A typical car rated at 24 miles per gallon would have a federal tax rate of 0.8 cents per mile, plus 1.3 cents per mile for the North Carolina tax. For 24 miles, that's 31.2 cents state and 19.2 cents federal tax -- about a penny more than the current taxes on a gallon.
If the technology works, it would give federal, state and even local governments the option to set different tax rates for different vehicles.
BEV PERDUE, DEMOCRATIC NC GOV. ELECT SAID - "Federal gas tax revenues will continue to decline as gas is replaced by other fuel sources and cars become more efficient, so the federal government must search for new options.
